Oh What a Night! Here's a quick re-cap of the Auction festivities:

*Guests stepped into a time warp with 80s/90s music blaring from the speakers and college flags and banners adorning the walls

*100 Vienna Inn Chilli Cheese Dogs consumed

*Over 230 items were up for grabs

*Over 100 Jello Shots were slurped up

*The Booze Luge stood tall on its mighty pedestal, claiming a few victims (ice, ice baby)

*MC Scott dazzled in a silver spangled shirt as our Live Auctioneer

*Combined, the Teacher Lunches went for just shy of $2,000!!

*We raised over $10,000 for Meekins!!!!!

We are doing the first ever yearbook for the whole school. It will be something that 10 years from now, you will look at with your kids and laugh and smile at the fun times they had at preschool (and be amazed at how small they once were). Our Yearbook Editor and her committee are already hard at work capturing these memories on paper. Forms are due Monday, March 15th (the same day Camp Meekins forms are due). To make the yearbook more personal, please answer some of the questions on the form whether or not you're ordering a yearbook. Any questions, please contact your class rep.

We are extending the collection deadline for the Embry Rucker Shelter to FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26th. Items may be placed in the bin located outside the M2/M3 classroom.

Note that the ongoing Haiti Earthquake Relief spare change collection for Save the Children will also end on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26th. The collection jar is also located outside the M2/M3 classroom.

As Valentine's Day is fast approaching, it is time for Meekins' annual collection on behalf of the Embry-Rucker Shelter. 

The Embry-Rucker Shelter is a 70-bed residential shelter located in Reston.

Because we are delivering the items before Valentine's Day, this collection will end next Thursday.

WHEN: begins Tuesday, February 2nd and ends on Thursday, February 11th

WHERE: collection bin will be in the hallway in front of the M2/M3 classroom

On Monday, 1/25, we began a spare change collection for Save the Children's Haiti earthquake relief efforts. 

Save the Children, a charity that has been operating in Haiti since 1978, is providing medical supplies, clinics, food, shelter, and child-friendly spaces for earthquake victims. The charity currently has 200 members on the ground in Haiti.

The collection jar will be placed in the hallway and remain there for the next month. We know that this is a small gesture in the face of such staggering loss and need, but we hope that we can still give it our very best effort and support.

It's Dining for Dollars day at Foster's Grille in Vienna!

On Monday, February 8th from 11am - 9pm, join us at Foster's Grille for lunch, snack, and dinner! Foster's Grille has kindly offered to give back 10% to Meekins for each receipt that is put in the collection box (you'll know it when you see it).

Skip the cooking and treat your family to some yummy food! And if you don't want to deal with eating at the restaurant, it's valid on carry-out, too.

Tell your friends and family and any passerbys (anyone can put their receipt in the box). Dining for Dollars is a great and easy way to support the school!

It's almost time for the Meekins social event of the year - the Annual Auction!  We hope you can all join us on Saturday, March 20th from 7 - 11 PM.  Admission is FREE for all current Meekins families and $10 a person for alumni and guests.

The silent auction begins at 7 PM, and the live auction will start at 8:30 PM.

This year's theme is "Back-to-School," so dig out your college sweatshirts and prepare to bid on some great items!  There will be free beer, wine, appetizers and snacks.  In keeping with the college theme, Jello shots and ice-slide shots will be available for $1.  There will also be great '80s-'90s music.

We look forward to a great time together!
