We welcome all interested families to find out more about Meekins. The information below should help you to understand more about our admissions process, costs, and co-op commitments. Admissions Process
Applications Mailed - Applications are mailed to all interested families in late January. An application fee of $30 is due with each application. School Tours - Interested parents may schedule a tour of our school to observe our classes. Admissions Selection - Admission is on a space available basis with preference given to current members, previous preschool members, members of the church and applicants from the previous years waiting list. An attempt is made to maintain an even number of boys and girls in each class. Admission may also be affected by the parents ability to fulfill classroom and school aide participation. Only one parent is required to fulfill the responsibilities. Notification of Acceptance - Families will be notified of acceptance beginning in late February Contracts Due - Contracts are due May 1st.
Tuition and Schedule
An application fee of $30 is due with each application, a
$45 contract fee is due with the signed
contract and the supply fee is due prior to the start of the school year. Coop Commitments
Participation time is divided between being a teacher's helper in your child's class, and being a floater parent. On teacher's helper days, the parent provides a nutritious snack for the class. Parents drive or otherwise assist on selected field trips during the year and, for that reason, must maintain required automobile insurance. Two-year-olds do not go on any field trips. Parents take an active role in the management of the school by serving on committees and participating in school programs as the need arises. All families are required to donate approximately three hours during the school year to maintain the school building and grounds. Each participating parent must complete eight hours of training/education activities in accordance with Virginia preschool licensing requirements. Meekins offers many varied opportunities to fulfill this requirement. Parents may attend co-op meetings at which school business and/or parent education topics are discussed. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
